Hello Readers and Friends,

I hope you are doing well. I have divided this week’s Interesting Things into 2 sections. I hope you find them useful.

I have picked up articles from diverse sources and it is slowly becoming such a beautiful exercise for me. If you read something exciting and interesting this week, then please feel free to share them with me so that I can share it with the wider group of people in the next edition.

Section A: The Jammu and Kashmir Conversation
The recent political movements in the country have raised several questions, fuelled solid movements and also encouraged several ubiquitous (and uninformed) keyboard activists to become the voice of the disconnected (communication network has been cut down) Kashmiris or the voice of our central government.

While I choose to keep my opinions reserved for some other blog, here are a few articles, videos and podcasts that I hope will be you build a complete narrative of what is happening. Also, find our Union Home Minister’s parliamentary speech here and our Hon’ble Prime Minister’s address to the people of Kashmir and the rest of India here. (Some fact-checking on Hon’ble Union Minister’s speech as published by the Scroll)

  2. The Indian Express article on the elements of Article 370 and Article 35A
  3. Some immediate next steps towards the realisation of the amendment have been shared by The Firstpost here
  4. Harish Salve on what the current amendment actually means.
  5. The current condition of people in Kashmir as reported by The New York Times
  6. A piece by Yaqoob Bangash sharing Pakistan’s perspective on the amendment
  7. The Observer Research Foundation’s special report on the amendment provides a rich insight into the amendment and what led to this amendment
  8. The Quint’s Podcast on the whole issue is quite insightful as well — The Big Story Ep 240 and 241 (the link here is from Spotify, you can find the podcast on other podcast platforms as well)
  9. Also, follow @withkashmir on Instagram for perspective from Kashmir

Section B: Other Interesting Things
These are some other articles that I found extremely interesting over the last fortnight.
1. This brilliant article on the difficulties of scaling within the nonprofit space gives some great insight into the challenges and also provides us with a fertile ground to start our decisions of scale

2. Jacqueline Novogratz’s, the CEO of Acumen, brilliant article on the true meaning of dignity. This is an old article but the perspective is important and urgent.

3. Suparna Diwakar’s article on how nonprofits can leverage the leadership of their field workers and unlock their untapped potential

4. And finally, this excerpt from Jiddu Krishnamurthi’s body of work, an article that made me think about my work and my being deeply

That is all from this edition of Interesting Things, I hope this was useful and I hope you have been able to sharpen your perspective on the recent amendment of Article 370 and 35A.
Have a great week ahead!
🇮🇳 Happy Independence Day 🇮🇳
