In 2012, right after Peter Theil invested in AirBnB he was invited to come to the Airbnb office. During the visit, Brian Chesky, the CEO of Airbnb asked Peter what was the single most important advice that he had for them. Peter replied, “Do not fuck up the culture”

At the outset, this is not what you expect from someone who founded companies like PayPal and Palantir and invested in companies like Facebook. But, when you reflect on what he said you will start seeing how culture is the single point from where most organisational challenges emerge. And that building a strong culture is important not only for profit-driven companies but also for non-profits, NGOs, communities, SHGs, schools, colleges, classrooms and families. At Simple Education Foundation, building a strong culture is at the foundation of our work. Our culture is built on our core values of Sense of Possibility, Excellence and Family. Inside our schools and classrooms, we are constantly driven to ensure that everyone we work with is happy and excited about coming to school. In the past 3 years, we have understood that culture inside schools and classrooms are built through small things, done right and done consistently. Here is an example of how our teachers are making their classrooms inspiring and joyful. The simple act of decking up the doors and making it inspiring and joyful can have a huge impact on how children feel when they walk into class every day.
