Drasko Draskovic is Mainflux’ Second Representative at Linux Foundation EdgeX Foundry Technical Steering Committee

Drasko Draskovic Founder of Mainflux is elected to be a member At Large in Linux Foundation EdgeX Foundry Technical Steering Committee and with Janko Isidorovic who is the Chair of the Applications Working Group is another Mainflux representative in EdgeX leadership.

Mainflux has two representatives in the Linux Foundation’s EdgeX Foundry leadership. Besides Mainflux CEO Janko Isidorovic who is re-elected in TSC as a Chair of the EdgeX Applications Working Group, Mainflux Founder Drasko Draskovic is elected to be a member at Large in Linux Foundation EdgeX Foundry Technical Steering Committee.

EdgeX Foundry Governing Board elected Drasko for the notable contribution, innovations and expertise he brought to the EdgeX project.

He is already recognized within in EdgeX Community consisting of more than 200 people from 80 member companies who were involved in different forms on EdgeX Foundry development. On the Linux Foundations EdgeX Foundry 1st Anniversary Drasko was granted with two awards: Community Innovation Award for his exemplary leadership and the Contribution Award for the extensive technical contribution.

Draško Drašković helped the transition of EdgeX Foundry project from Java to Go, not only by contributing code but also by providing assistance, help and consulting to project community members.

As a project maintainer, he is responsible for approving and merging pull requests and leading technical discussions on improving the code and architecture.

Additionally, his code contribution led to dramatic reduction in memory footprint and start-up time of the EdgeX framework achieved with monorepo proposal and implementation, file structure, architectural and containerization improvement.

Before founding Mainflux, Drasko gained over 15 years of professional experience both in the open-source community and 500 fortune companies.

His first contribution to the open-source project is to U-Boot, for ARM devices, dealing with the processor’s instruction cache and data cache, and initializing and setting the memory management unit on the chipset.

Drasko is also an author of IoT Hardware WeIO, which led to the development of Mainflux open-source IoT platform.

In telecom industry he hacked embedded Linux SW and HW device drivers, designing complex wireless systems.

He was working on OMAP platform in Texas Instruments, built LTE and IoT chips in Sequans, designed 4G multi-protocol femto-cells in Alcatel-Lucent and worked on 5G and blockchain solutions in Nokia.

Drasko is an author of the book “Scalable Architecture for the Internet of Things” published by O’Reilly and vivid conference speaker, sharing his thoughts on modern software design and how the Internet should be decentralized.
