Mainflux CEO Janko Isidorovic Re-elected as the Chair of the EdgeX Applications Working Group
At the Linux Foundation EdgeX Foundry face-to-face Technical Steering Committee meeting in Palo Alto, Mainflux Co-Founder and CEO Janko Isidorovic is re-elected as the Chair of the Application Working Group and Drasko Draskovic Founder of Mainflux as EdgeX Technical Steering Committee member At Large.
The meeting was held at the VMware facility hosting more than 40 professionals from the all 5 continents of the world and many other joined by phone.
Besides Janko re-elected members are Jason Shepherd (EdgeX Board Member) and Jim White from Dell, Jeremy Phelps representing Linux Foundation, Doug Gardner from ADI, Moonki Hong and MyeongGi Jeong from Samsung Electronics, Keith Steele Chair of the Technical Steering Committee from IOTech. New elected Working Group chairs are Steve Osselton (Device Services, from IOTech), Trevor Conn (Core, from Dell) and David Ferriera (Security, from ForgeRock).

EdgeX Foundry marked one-year anniversary in April and has grown its global footprint to almost 80 member companies in 17 countries. From the technical point of view, Edgex has evolved in a platform that makes it easier to build, deploy, run and scale IIoT solutions given its native interoperability.
Mainflux was invited to join the EdgeX Foundry due to the leading edge design, architecture and implementation of the Mainflux IoT Platform. For our team, the opportunity that was given by Linux Foundation to participate in EdgeX Foundry Project side by side with industry leaders, then was the important confirmation of the quality and the relevance of the Mainflux open-source IoT platform on the current IoT landscape.
From the start, we gave our best to contribute to the project goals, and after one year we are proud that our participation is recognized by the community and its members.
Our team helped the transition of EdgeX Foundry project from Java to Go, which resulted in astounding overall improvement for more than 90% in every important performance aspect of the EdgeX Platform.
Being elected as Chair of the Application Working Group, Janko Isidorovic helped successful transition from JAVA based code to Golang. For the next goal Application Working Group has the task of redesigning the architecture of Export Services to make them more even more scalable, flexible and enable companies to easily replace any of the existing services or add additional services to EdgeX.
Furthermore, Mainflux founder Drasko Draskovic is also elected in Technical Steering Committee as member At Large.
Previously, Drasko received the EdgeX Foundry Community Innovation Award for his exemplary leadership as well as the Contribution Award for the extensive technical contribution that has made a significant impact on growing EdgeX project.
Drasko involvement and participation included, continuous following and analyzing issues and reviewing and commenting on new contributions, as well as leading technical discussions on improving the code and architecture.
His special contribution is monorepo proposal and implementation, file structure and architectural and containerization improvement which led to dramatic reduction in memory footprint and start-up time.
The re-election of Janko Isidorovic in the Technical Steering Committee is additional recognition of his and Mainflux team credibility and expertise, in this way proven among the professionals from leading industry giants and companies from overall the world.
Janko, Drasko and Mainflux team will continue to participate in EdgeX in the same way, looking forward on its progress and growth strongly believing that it will achieve great things.
