Mainflux is on Tour: London, Prague, Amsterdam ITNEXT!
A week after O’Reilly conference in London, Mainflux Team gave a presentation at Linux Foundation Open Source Summit, held in Prague from 23–26 October. In November our team will be in Amsterdam giving a talk at ITNEXT SUMMIT 2017
Open Source Summit is composed of several events LinuxCon, ContainerCon, CloudOpen and the new Open Community Conference covering a wide range of topics with 2,000 technologists and community members. Among the speakers was the founder of Linux Foundation Linus Torvalds, and professionals from companies like Google, Confluent, VMware, and Intel.
Drasko Draskovic and Dejan Mijic presented IoT Mainflux Platform within the CloudOpen event dedicated to education and collaboration designed specifically to advance the open cloud. Top professionals cover subjects including cloud platforms, open source best practices, automation and management tools, containers, virtualization, software-defined networking, storage & filesystems, big data tools and platforms, DevOps, and many other.

IoT platform which connects the real and virtual worlds and serves as a bridge between operational technology (OT) and IT is a central and the most complex component in the Internet of Things architecture.
According to one survey of 300 developers, 69% rated the difficulty of filling gaps in their current IoT platform as “moderate” or “hard,” and 40% found learning a new IoT platform harder than learning other programming frameworks.
This not a surprise since the complexity of IoT platform is manyfold.
First, it derives from a wide spectrum of different and integrated functionalities and services which IoT platform has to provide. Then, it also must have capabilities that are essential for any kind of sustainable IoT solution due to the massive number of connected devices and the enormous quantity of data generated by them.
And finally, IoT platform must be developed with specific, sophisticated security mechanisms at every layer and touch-point of its infrastructure, as well as respecting requirements for low-power, memory constrained devices with intermittent connectivity and limited bandwidth.
Drasko and Dejan explained developing an architecture, implementation, security and testing procedures needed for creating a full-scale IoT platform which provides all the functionalities, capabilities, and requirements described above.
The result is the proposed solution, a full-scale, patent-free open-source IoT Platform (Mainflux) based on a set of scalable containerized microservices, with high concurrency and high security based on PKI with specific ciphers and encryption procedures that are suitable for constrained devices.

ITNEXT SUMMIT
We are invited to give a talk at ITNEXT Summit, which will be held on November 15 -2017 in Amsterdam.
Except for the presentation “Architecturing and securing IoT platforms with microservices,” members of our team Janko Isidorovic and Dejan Mijic will present a demo of Mainflux Platform.
