Durgas around us!

I am not sure if the Durgā portrayed in pictures exists, I’ve never seen her. But I have seen many goddesses around me. Sanitation goddesses who use the broomstick as weapon to slay the demon of trash. Those women who sell vegetables and those who cooked and fed me, Annapurnas! Those women who taught me, Saraswathis. Those women who contribute to the economy of the society, Lakshmis. And so on!

The potency of these goddesses we see around us, exists, not for 10 days, but all through the year, all through our life. If I don’t see goddesses in them, where else can I find goddess? In statues and stones? Am I blind to ignore the goddesses in front of me and seek the goddess who is invisible to the eye?

Happy Dussehra to all — may we continue to elevate and strive for the lives of women we see around us, respect them the way we respect the goddess in the temple.
