Oh dear flower…
During my stay in Germany, as the war broke, every conversation was about it. Despair, fear and anxiety quickly filled the hearts of people. One day as I was walking down the lane, I saw a beautiful flower. ”There’s war, there’s despair, but there’s also you, oh magnificent flower” I whispered to it. I felt relieved right away. Happiness filled my heart. Our ideas of happiness are often so overrated and unobtainable that we often forget that happiness is around us always.
When there is so much of suffering around, isn’t it cruel to remain peaceful and stable? — one might think. By remaining peaceful, we don’t turn a blind eye to the suffering. We just don’t add to the existing despair in the world. By remaining peaceful, we understand deeply that our anxiety can’t help anyone and can only make things worse. By being peaceful, we find the insight that would transform our suffering and that of our fellow beings. Being peaceful, we can notice smiling flowers and babies.
