When does the war end?
Suppose we miraculously obtained a power to erase whoever we wish and a country decides to erase all other countries, would the war end then? No, because there would still be a war between different religions, castes and creeds within. What if we kept only one religion and erased everything else? Would the war end then? No, people within the religion fight against the others in the hierarchy. What if we kept a single family and erased everything else, would it end now? No, people in the family still war against each other. War will end only when there is a single human left. But what would that single human do, with all the richness of the world? Who would he live with? Who can he hug or kiss?
This teaches us a lot. We often think, we, as individuals, are powerless and only some abstractions like countries, intellectuals and leaders alone can deliver us. But as we have seen above, war ends only when there is one human left and it may also be that war begins with one individual. We maybe unwilling to act and do our own bit because we bear the view that our contribution has no impact on the world. It mayn’t be so. The language faculty we possess is a pretty recent addon in the evolution. We are hard-wired to communicate and learn non-verbally. Almost 90% of our communication is non-verbal.
When we are at peace and are stable, when we consume only that much we need and lead a simple life and yet remain very happy, people will start to notice slowly and learn from our being. Only then they might open their minds and hearts to our words and it is then that our language, arriving from the depths of our heart and practise, can be of some help. When we speak what we practise, we exude strength and confidence. I have experienced it personally. In the past, there are times when I used fancy language to impress people, but didn’t practise what I said and it only made a surface level impact. But when I practise something deeply and speak even in simple words, people understand my heart deeply.
By offering our stable being and speaking from the heart, we are already doing the most important peace-work. Flowers, birds and stars know this secret. Without uttering a word and communicating solely through their being, they are already doing the best peace-work ever possible~
