Submission Process:

  1. Sign-up for a medium.com account if you do not have one already.
  2. Submit a completed draft through the Submission Form. Please review your drafts for errors, structural integrity, flow, etc. If necessary, we will revise your draft with you multiple times before publishing the piece.

Publication Process:

Follow the procedure below once the editors confirm that your piece is ready to be published:

  1. Click on your profile picture in the upper right hand corner. Select “new story”.

Write or copy/paste the story we have edited with you. Make sure to add a banner image and other visuals to accompany your story (https://unsplash.com/). When you are done writing, select the 3 dots to bring down a menu where you can then select “add to publication”. Choose maivmai and then select “submit story”.

- You’re Done!

Additional Notes and Submission Guidelines:

Note 1: Only added writers will be able to see us listed as an available publication. Let us know if you’ve been approved but do not see maivmai as a publication.

Note 2: If you are submitting a previously published piece from your Medium account, you will want to create a new version through the “New story” option. This is so your story can appear at the top of our publication feed which is sorted by the original publication date of stories. (For example, if you submit the old story link you wrote 2 years ago, it will be buried two years back on the maivmai feed when we publish it.)

We are a community of readers and writers creating a platform for underrepresented voices. Our stories empower and strengthen one another. In a violent, unjust, and oppressive society, our stories become a light breaking through the darkness. We do not welcome or condone stories that work to silence or oppress women, LGBTQIA, youth voices, and individuals who have been historically marginalized within society.
