Artist Statement:
A true portrait will reveal the intrinsic beauty that exists in every human soul. LOST & FOUND is a series of charcoal portraits that captures various emotions of the Hmong people. By using contrasting colors and various straight-light techniques to create texture, I wanted to deliver a human connection to the pieces. A kind of human connection where you could read their life story just by observing their facial expressions. I tend to focus most of my time and energy on perfecting the eyes because as the saying goes, the eyes are the portals to the soul.
