As Pierce the Veil’s Jaws of Life United Kingdom and Europe tour comes to a close, the San Diego pop punk band band are deeply grateful for their unexpectedly sold-out arenas. They kicked off the tour in Tilburg, Netherlands, on 30th March and have been overwhelmed by the fan base and warm welcome they’ve received in the nine UK/EU cities they’ve intended to visit. Unfortunately, the band canceled their show in Dublin, Ireland, due to heinous weather and travel safety concerns. They shared their last-minute decision on Instagram, expressing their profound apologies to the fans and reassured refunds through Ticketmaster.

The band’s final show will be at London’s Alexandra Palace this Saturday, 13th April, with special guests Dayseeker and Holding Absence. “This is the show that we’ve been dreaming about putting on for our fans ever since we started touring overseas. It’s a monumental celebration of everything that we have all built together over the years. Since this will be our first time playing in UK arenas and larger European venues, we are bringing everything we have at our disposal to create a special, memorable experience that our fans deserve,” says Vic Fuentes on the tour.

Pierce The Veil: The Jaws of Life Album 2023

From their humble beginnings in 2006, Pierce the Veil has come a long way. Founded by brothers Vic Fuentes as guitar/lead vocals and drummer Mike Fuentes, they were later joined by bassist Jaime Preciado and guitarist Tony Perry. Their first studio album, ‘The Flair for The Dramatic, released in 2007, marked the beginning of their journey to popularity with their unique blend of post-hardcore, emo pop punk, and experimental rock music. The same year, they headlined the North American Vans Warped Tour, sharing the stage with other emo 2000s bands like A Day to Remember, Mayday Parade, All Time Low, Chiodos, Sleeping with Sirens, Bring Me The Horizon, and more.

In 2010, Vic Fuentes and Mike Green produced the band’s second album, Selfish Machines; it also included two heartfelt music videos, ‘Bulletproof Love’ and ‘Caraphernelia’ ft. Jeremy McKinnon, lead singer of A Day to Remember. The band’s infamous album, Collide with The Sky, released in 2012, had a lot of heart, ground-breaking hits, ‘Hell Above,’ ‘King For A Day’ and ‘Bullet in the Bronx,’ which stood out as one of most high-energy, experimental Mexican folk acoustic, adding emocore vocals from Fuentes, shredding metal riffs.

Pierce The Veil’s fourth studio album, Misadventures, won the Best Album of the Year award in 2017 at the Alternative Press Magazine award. After celebrating ten years together as a band, PTV broke up after allegations of sexual misconduct about founder/drummer Mike Fuentes surfaced on Twitter, where he indefinitely left the band. Despite the band’s separation, in 2019, Pierce The Veil’s ‘King For A Day’ song from their third studio album, Collide With The Sky, went platinum.

On TikTok, the King For A Day went viral in 2022 gained popularity among Gen Z and millennial women; the majority created reels where they appear makeup-less at first, then use a strobe filter to reappear, performing sensually with full-on makeup and emo-rock style clothing. A year later, the band triumphantly returned with their fifth studio album, The Jaws of Life, released on 10th February 2023, with emotionally gut-wrenching, gritty hardcore instrumentals, melodic vocals, and heart-pumping guitar riffs. The album reflects on complicated relationships, with tracks like ‘Shared Trauma,’ ‘Emergency Contact,’ and ’12 Fractures’ ft. Chloe Moriondo reveals trauma bonding and one-sided romance.
