Background story:

1996, Red Coast Base, human receive the first message from another life form for the first time. On the screen of the translation machine shows a simple line:

LET’S PARTY!

20 Years later, more and more aliens who have been analyzed to determine that they can live on Earth have come to the planet. Although they can adapt to the living conditions here, they still face many problems, especially those lives in the most complicated city of Earth: New York.
So that’s why we are here: to help those newcomers who came to us for help and bring them a better living condition.


PART01: INTRODUCTION

These creatures like carpets or posters have very fascinating properties. They have a circle of tiny tentacles around their flat body. Because they are timid and shy, they don’t move when they are seen, so they are often mistaken for posters or carpets. But when no one notices them, they use their tentacles to move quietly.

But their most striking feature is the way they live and communicate. They don’t need actual food, but they need wifi to survive. They will eat wifi and identify the information, and then they can change the body surface of the display color, transforming the information they have absorbed.

But because they are often mistaken for posters or carpets, they don’t have much chance to communicate with humans after they come to Earth. Although they have excellent expression organs, they rarely understand the culture of the earth because they rarely communicate with humans. But their essence is curious and enthusiastic, so they are constantly learning human culture while they are eating wifi. But even then, they often feel lonely.

First of all, we have to choose the target group for this website. Because they need to eat wifi, or wireless signals, that is, where you can receive wifi or cell phone signals are considered. But there are many places in New York City that don’t have wifi or even cell phone signals (yes, you heard what I said AT&T), so we chose the main alternative space in the coffee place, school building or corporate building.

But because we want to communicate, because the way they communicate is through the change of the back pattern, considering the size of these creatures and the leisure time of people in the environment, the corporate building may not be a good choice.

Then the rest of the choice is the school building or the coffee place. Then we need to know the nature of wifi and what happens when wifi is eaten, and how these changes will affect the information we transmit over wifi.

The essence of wifi

Since the essence of wifi is a high-frequency radio that contains information on a carrier when a part of the wave is eaten, we can think that the transmission of the signal has been suspended, and a signal has been lost. So the principle that these creatures get signals from wifi can be thought of as having a structure similar to a signal decoder in their body, so they can read the digital signals on the carrier and recompile and display them in their bodies. At the same time, some of them are converted into pure energy to provide them with the biomass energy needed for biological activities.


After understanding the nature of wifi and the principles behind how these creatures eat wifi, what we need to understand is how these affect the information we transmit. When I was a student of communication engineering, I learned that the information we transmit is usually packaged by the program, and the special code is encrypted and transmitted through the carrier. The general transmission coding takes into account a certain amount of signal loss so that the transmitted information is not lost.

However, the losses typically encountered in signal transmission are random discontinuous signal losses, but here we discuss a large segment of continuous signal loss. We can use Wireshark's software to capture the information we transmit in the wifi signal and then analyze it to see what effect the interruption of continuous transmission signal loss will have.

Therefore, we know that when we transmit signals, we first need to perform three-way handshake confirmation signal transmission, and then package the information. Therefore, long interruptions and lack of signal transmission will prevent us from downloading or uploading certain packets that have already been confirmed. So schools that transmit and download more frequently is not a good choice because there is a large amount of important information received, or a large number of downloaded files are damaged.


Then we have to determine what information should be on the website. The website is mainly used when you work or rest in the coffee place, you can see this creature on the wall or on the ground, you can log in to this website. Through this website you can feed them, that is, download more information that is irrelevant and will be deleted automatically. Or communicate by sending emoji to the server multiple times. So once it has decoded this information, it can receive the emoji you sent.
