Day 1: Using Infographic to explain information
The science in soccer
Intro:
The 2018 World Cup was held in Russia this summer, which brought so much fun and exciting moment to the soccer fans around the world. As the most popular sport, there are a lot of scientific facts get involved during the soccer game. For instance, the movement of the ball can create turbulence, which still can’t be explained thoroughly and logically even today. Therefore, the soccer trajectory is unpredictable, which actually generates more uncertainty than sports like basketball and volleyball. A lot of scientist and data analysts are trying to reveal the mysteries behind it, which actually turns out to be very complicated. However, these research still helps soccer players to improve their skills and how to kick the ball that is easier to score.
According to my research, there are a lot of videos and tutorial to explain and demonstrate how to shoot accurately. However, I didn’t find any clear infographic to explain why players should kick in certain ways. Therefore, I think it is a interesting topic to make a infographic explain the trajectory of soccer balls.
Rules:
- The infographic need to be related to a popular sport.
- The infographic should be logical and easy to understand.
- Should use scientific theories to demonstrate the explanation.
- Avoid text heavy layout (~150 words).
- Use grid system.
Sketches
My infographic will be focus on three main soccer kick method: 1) Banana Kick. 2) Falling Leaves Kick. 3) Elevator Kick

First Iteration & Feedback
I received a lot of feedback from my first iteration. People think the design is really text heavy, and the year next to the soccer player is also very confusing.
