The mind, our thoughts, our language, our words, the body, our behaviors, all of it, we are connected to the world.

Ultimately, we influence the world, and it influences us. How the world influences us is through our surroundings, through our relationships, and through our use of language. We are affected by what surrounds us physically, what surrounds us emotionally as well, and so much more in between.

Poetry shapes how we view ourselves within our surroundings because of its emotional impact on humanity. Poetry gives life to the intangible.

Every word we speak, every word that comes out of our mouths is a string of sounds, each unique and separate in meaning, yet possessing the power to combine with another group of sounds to create emotions and images within an individual’s mind.

Through the study of poetry, one can determine how humanity evolves through their language. We are all connected through our use of language because each word is derived from another word, and so on. Every time someone uses a word, they make it their own. Language is power, but poetry shapes how we view that power.
