Make the Breast Pump Not Suck: 2019 Update

Happy new year to our family of collaborators and followers!

Over the past few months, we have been reflecting on what the Make the Breast Pump Project experienced and contributed in 2018, and getting ready for what we hope will be a very powerful 2019!

We’re excited to share that we are now fiscally sponsored by the Allied Media Projects, a transition that helps us retain much more of the funds we raise to go toward direct project costs — while also putting us in a community of creative and like-minded organizations by whom we are already inspired. We will maintain strong institutional relationships with the MIT Media Lab, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, and Medela, among all the other partners that have helped nurture our work.

Our vision for what we can contribute moving forward is to nurture community across lines of difference, not only including breastfeeding advocacy, health equity, and technology and design — but also across lines of racial, regional, and disciplinary difference.

To support both of these changes and reflecting changing life circumstances, we’ve also reorganized our leadership team. Project Co-Directors are now Jenn Roberts and Kate Krontiris, with Rebecca Michelson serving as Strategic Partnerships Lead. Alexis Hope and Catherine D'Ignazio remain important members of the leadership team and will be contributing on a project basis.

We are actively fundraising now, so please get in touch with leads, suggestions, and collaboration ideas!
