For the 2019 event, the Baltimore chapter will be keeping a lot of the ‘day-of’ happenings from last year. We’re still a 12-hour design and development marathon, celebrating our creativity by benefitting local nonprofits. Not only are we once again looking to make amazing things happen for our community, but we’ll still be treating our makers well, too! Here are some of the things we have going on this year that we’re changing up from last year:

New creative space

This year, we’ll be at the Idfive office in Baltimore. Idfive is an award-winning advertising agency focusing on higher education and non-profit digital strategies. Idfive’s office will give the 2019 event a mix of a large community area like last year, but also enough breakout spaces and conference rooms for teams that want a little more privacy or focus. And yes, there will still be parking! We couldn’t be more happier to have their support this year.

Pre-event before the Baltimore Make-a-Thon

This summer, we’re planning a happy hour before maker and nonprofit applications go out. Whether you’re a maker or a nonprofit, interested parties will be able to meet and ask any questions before the application process starts. In addition, we’ll be showcasing the work that was done last year and giving some background on how those projects came to fruition. Make a Mark alums are encouraged to attend as well! More details will be shared soon.

Fewer projects, but more focus on teams

While we will be accepting fewer projects this year, the Baltimore team will be taking extra steps to strengthen and support our makers and nonprofits. This will result in more comprehensive planning meetings and collaboration between the teams. More importantly, this will ensure that projects go as smoothly as possible within the 12 hours allowed.
