The Make a Mark Charlotte committee selected 11 diverse and meaningful nonprofits to serve for their first 12-hour make-a-thon held at Hygge Camp North End on November 17, 2018.

A Child’s Place

A Child’s Place works to erase the impact of homelessness on children and their education. A Child’s Place serves both students and families experiencing a housing crisis through individualized student support plans to keep students in school, demonstrate healthy behaviors and promote academic success, while meeting basic needs. Beds for Kids

Beds for Kids works to provide beds and essential furniture to children and their families in need. Beds for Kids refurbishes and re-purposes new and gently used beds and furniture items, and empowers families with children by delivering these beds and furniture items to powerfully supplement the family’s resources as they rise out of poverty and into self-sufficiency. Carolina Family Connections

Carolina Family Connections provides family foster care services for children in need of out-of-home placement in North Carolina. They place children, 0–18, in foster homes and license foster parents from every walk of life regardless of marital status, religious affiliation, race/ethnicity, gender, age (if over 21), sexual orientation and more. Digi-Bridge advocates to provide quality STEAM programming for kindergarten through 8th grade scholars in Charlotte, Mecklenburg and surrounding counties with a special focus on communities of promise where quality, affordable STEAM programming is not available. Learn more.

Pop Up Produce was created from a passion to grow food and grow community. The organization believes that everyone deserves to eat nutritious food, regardless of status, because no one can grow, maintain good health, or reach their full potential if they are hungry.

Pop Up Produce sells kits made of locally sourced organic supplies to start growing your own food. For every kit purchased, they donate kit resources to families in food deserts. Learn more.

Rebuilding Together

Rebuilding Together helps low-income homeowners stay safely in their homes by providing critical home repairs at no cost. To maximize impact, they focus their work on communities with high concentrations of need and are currently engaged in neighborhoods on Charlotte’s West Side. Learn more.
