Make or Break 2018: the gist
As you probably already know by now, Make or Break will happen in April, between the 13th and the 15th. It will take place in Porto, namely, at Palácio dos Correios.

What you probably don’t know or remember is the plethora of activities we have planned for this year. Please, start taking notes:
Hackathon
This is where it all began. We’ll have a 48-hour hackathon (this is the “Make” part), followed by a hack fair: one afternoon of going around experimenting what others did and then voting on their projects (the “Break” part).
There are three different categories to evaluate: Fun, Useful and Creative. Every project will automatically participate in every category but they can’t win more than one of them.
The prizes are cool as hell: for “Fun” we’ll have awesome Nintendo Switches, for “Useful” sweet ass Dell U2515H monitors and for “Creative” these incredible Bose QuietComfort 35 headsets.
We want this to go as smooth as can be, so feel free to roam around the rules to make sure you don’t miss out on anything.
Workshops
God, do we rock at these. We’ve had everything happening in our workshops from Game Development to Craft Beer and this year won’t be any different.
Six workshops will happen throughout the event: there’ll be two on Friday the 13th, three on Saturday the 14th and one in the morning of Sunday, the 15th.
Please beware that there is a limited number of attendees per workshop, so make sure to save your place in advance, as soon as we start announcing them.
AI competition
We’re debuting our AI Competition this year and we couldn’t be more excited. There’s a board game we created for this single purpose and all you have to do is create an AI agent to play and win against other agents (initially 1-on-1).
This competition will take place online during the month of March, but we will only choose the winners and distribute the prizes during the event, in April, because we want to meet the faces that dared to beat our adorable game.
But wait, there’s more!
There’s food! On Friday, we’ll serve lunch and dinner and there’ll be snacks to nibble on during the day. On Saturday there will be lunch, snacks, and dinner. On Sunday we hope you go and have dinner with your family after the event, like a decent human being.
There’s games! There’ll be video games in the chill out area and we are ensuring we’ll have board games as well, so you can relax a little from all that coding frenzy.
There’s goodies! This is the part where we thank our incredible sponsors for making so many awesome things happen in our goodie bags. If not for anything else, you should come by just for the treats they manage to add to these bags every year. #blessed #sponsorlove #thankyoulord #hashtag
So, this is pretty much it. We hope to see you there in two months. In case you haven’t applied to Make or Break 2018, here’s the link, you little scoundrel. Applications close in a little over a month, so stop procrastinating.
See you in Porto!
