There was a clause in Van Halen’s contract that stipulated no Brown M&M’s.

Your first thought is that they were just your typical rock star prima donnas.

But, it wasn’t that at all.

It was their way to alert them to whether they were dealing with professionals or not. Where every detail was taken care of.

If they found brown M&M’s back stage, they would order a line check, inspecting every bit of lighting, and sound.

It was their way of finding out if they were working with professionals or amateurs. And if they were working with amateurs, to be on their guard.

And it would give them permission to trash backstage,

As they didn’t demand their respect.

The above was an excerpt from Hiut Denim Co. — YearBook 3. We only printed 2000. They have all sold out. But you can get a free digital version of YearBook 1 when you sign up for our newsletter here.
