A quick update regarding the plumbing system:
So after having a quick chat with one of the self-containment inspectors, I realized that the waste water tank needs to have a vent with a pipe that goes above the sink hole, and out of the van. The reason is that if the tank is full, waste water will spill out of then tank and into the van. If the vent goes above the sink hole, the sink will back up first. So I ended up drilling another hole in the waste water tank for the vent:

The new waste water tank vent

As for now, I have the kitchen table, and Part B of the bed, which is the part that’s fixed to the van.

I was contemplating my bed design recently, and came up with a slightly different design, which gives me some otherwise somewhat wasted storage space under and above the bed:

The main change in this design is that the rest of the bed is behind the passenger’s seat rather than the driver’s seat. The Idea was to be able to put shelves above one side of the bed for more storage space, without blocking the driver’s visual field on the left side of the van.

So the next stage is to basically finish the bed, and will be done in a few steps:

Part A (A¹, A², and A³):

  1. The Kitchen table stills needs some work so it can support Part A. I need to add it’s back cover to it, which is a piece of thin wood that separates the kitchen area from the bed, and will have a hole for the kitchen drawer.
  2. Structure and Dimensions: Part A¹ is ~112cm long and ~36cm wide. Part A² and A³ are 20cm long and also ~36cm wide. Part A¹ will be connected to Part B using fold-up hinges and Parts A² and A³ will rest on the holders mentioned below.
  3. Holders
  • Holder #1: The kitchen table supports Part A using a horizontal holder which is as high as the bed (minus the plywood’s width). This holder will be placed on top of the kitchen table’s back cover that I mentioned earlier.
  • Holder #2 and #3 connects Part B to Holder #1. it will support Parts A¹, A², and A³, and will also allow a storage units under Parts A² and A³, that can be accessed even when Part A¹ is not folded. Moreover, having Part A³ separated from Part A¹ means that I can put shelves above it without Part A¹ and the shelves colliding. The reason I’m not putting shelves above Part A² is because that’s the side I will sometimes look through as a driver, thus needs to be cleared from obstacles.
  • Holders #4 and #5: These holders will be glued to the sides of the van, under Part A and B, and supporting Part A² and A³.
  • Holders #6 and #7: These holders will support the back side of Parts A² and A³.

Part C

  1. Structure and Dimensions: Part C is ~50cm long, ~70cm wide, and will be connected to Part B using fold-up hinges. Part C will also have a support structure attached to it underneath, but will have only two legs (on the front part, see sketch) that can fold in when the bed is folded, thus can be under the couch’s pillows.

Part D

  1. Structure and Dimensions: Part D is ~40cm long, ~70cm wide, and will be connected to Part C using fold-down hinges. Part D will also have a support structure attached to it underneath.
  2. Holders: Part D will be resting on holder #8 which will be attached to a small box behind the passenger’s seat.
