Our Media Chat

One imperative part of our anniversary was telling our story over the past 10 years. So, to kick off the celebration season, we hosted media chiefs to a chat to celebrate with them while sharing our story and giving insights into the future. We were pleased to have representatives from Channels, Thisday, Techpoint, Pulse-Business Insider, Guardian, Business Day and more.

It didn’t end there, the duo — Tayo and Jay were featured in The Guardian Life Magazine to tell their story on how they went from friendship to Paga. If you missed the chance to grab a copy, no worries, you can read all about it here.

Catch some glimpse of the behind the scene footages during their interview.

Office Celebrations (The Warm Up)

*Drum roll* We officially clocked 10 years on the 3rd of April and the entire team resumed work to find a “Thank You” note from our CEO on their desks — This warmed our hearts.

Later on, we had a mini-shindig with some champagne and cake!

PS: We described this as the warm up because our actual shindig was still to come ;)

Team Appreciation Day

And so it began. Few days after the warm up, we threw the biggest Paga party ever! Bringing together the entire Paga team (465 employees) from all regions across Nigeria and some of our investors under one roof!

It was a fun-filled evening for everyone. We had a lot of team bonding activities — games, food, music, drinks and the dance floor. Whew! Can we rewind? :(

Partner Breakfast

We partied hard but no hangovers — moving on to the next day we hosted our partners to breakfast at the Raddison Blu Anchorage in Lagos.

At Paga, we strongly believe in partnership and it was a good time to chat and celebrate with businesses, regulators, and the banks that have worked with us to serve Nigerians through the years.

It was a huge honor to have in attendance a representative of the Vice President of Nigeria; Prof. Yemi Osinbajo and the Director, Payment System Management Department of Central Bank of Nigerian; Mr. Sam Okojere.

Leadership Team/Investor Roundtable

On the evening of the same day, we held a roundtable session with our investors and Paga’s leadership team at the Capital One Club in Lagos.

This was a close-knit evening for the leadership team and investors to get more familiar with each other while reflecting on our journey so far and onwards.

Investor-Agent Visit

That same week, we took some of our foreign investors on a tour to see some of our agent outlets in Lagos.

It is always an inspiring time for us to visit our agents —as always they were pumped to share stories about how Paga is making life possible for people in their community. Our investors were also thrilled with the onsite experience of our agent network.

Gala Night

We rounded up our series of events celebrating our investors and members of the board.

We started the evening with cocktails while catching up with friends and some classical music to ease us into what was an amazing evening.

Some of the guests in attendance were Yemi Lalude, Founder and Managing Partner of Adlevo Capital; Tokunboh Ishmael, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Alitheia Capital; Andrew Alli, CEO South Bridge Group, Arjuna Costa, Managing Partner Flourish Ventures, and Tani Fafunwa, Managing Director Resourcery PLC and other friends of the company.

It was time for the speeches and the emotions rolled in…

Moving on from the emotions, talk about having a ball because we sure did!

We had an intimate and fun evening with people who have immensely contributed and been an integral part of the Paga journey through the years.

Thank You:

It’s been an amazing journey since the birth of Paga in 2009! As a company, we have grown and served over 12 million users, built the largest shared financial distribution network in Nigeria of over 20,000 agents and in partnership with thousands of businesses.

We are now 10 years — This is an exciting milestone for all of us at Paga and we are immensely grateful for our customers, agents, partners, and investors who have been instrumental in our success over the last 10 years.

Thank you for your continuous trust in us. As a team, we will continue to deliver on the best-in-class payment experience by being committed to our purpose of it simple for one billion people to access and use money.
