Simple Steps in 2015

Fitbit (built-in) on the #HTCOneM8

KEEP IT REAL
If you’re like me and you like to keep it real, you would want real resolutions for the new year. It’s good to have goals, but what i’ve learnt in 2014 is — the simpler you make them, the better. And you’re more likely to keep to it. And while goals may be to travel more (Denpasar anyone?), they should be real goals that you want to achieve!

FITBIT
2014 had me use the Fitbit One™ and it really changed my life. I walk about 2 to 4.5 times more now. That’s more exercise, and every single step counts. And because they do count, I watch the amount I eat, so as not to waste the steps. It’s also mellowed me a little. I don’t get as frustrated if i have to park further away from an entrance, the Lord knows i need more walking. The consequence is 6kg shaved, and it stayed off, just by sticking to a simple regime — 10,000 steps a day minimum (with one cheat day a week, but 30,000 steps over the weekend).

WALKING
The benefits of walking are clear too:

  1. Strengthens your heart.
  2. Lowers disease risk.
  3. Keeps weight in check.
  4. Prevents dementia.
  5. Prevents osteoporosis.
  6. Tones your legs, bum and tum.
  7. Tones your arms, shoulders, and upper back.
  8. Boosts Vitamin D levels.
  9. Gives you energy.
  10. Makes you happy.

SOCIAL CHALLENGE
You can get badges for your accomplishments, eg, climbing 4000 floors in your lifetime (since fitibit of course) gets you the 747 badge. Showing off on Facebook or Twitter is a plus. It’s quite social — you can add your friends who have Fitbit, cheering or taunting them occasionally can be fun. Plus, with the newer software, it comes with challenges that you can initiate or join, like the work week hustle or the weekend warrior.

MY RESOLUTION
It’s got other features that i’m trying to get back on for 2015 — like calorie counting, water intake, and sleep tracking, which i have yet to really use. So, that would be one of my New Year resolutions. To try diving deeper into these other features.

YOU MAY ALREADY HAVE IT
That said, did you know that the HTC One (M8) already comes with Fitbit pre-installed? You get the basic features, everything i’ve mentioned except number of floors climbed and sleep tracking, the rest are pretty much there. If you already have the HTC One (M8) or the HTC Butterfly 2, you already have it, right on your smartphone! Activate it today and start stepping your way to a better 2015.

HTC ONE (M8) BENEFITS
Note: Going to parks with your HTC One (M8), gives you these benefits:

  1. Taking different kinds of photos people don’t see when they aren’t in parks.
  2. Seeing different things you would otherwise miss.
  3. Getting more fresh air.
  4. Peace and quiet.
  5. It’s addictive (and that’s good).

HAVE A GREAT & HEALTHY 2015.
STEP UP TO A HAPPY NEW YEAR! :-)
