Logic or Love?

What “smart” do you want your device to be?

A month ago, I presented a Tedx talk on why the robot needs a heart. (Click here for talk: 7 mins)

At CrowdEmotion, we get excited about enhancing your life through emotions. Today, that conversation revolves around you and your “smart” devices. As sensors continue to unlock “smart” value from objects you use daily, we get excited about the empathetic potential to make your phone, house, car and even robot, thoughtful.

You see, to date, “smart” is about automating Logic. A technology forcing you to comply with a limited keystroke, mouse click, and swipe framework.

Three inputs to determine what you want? We are more complex than that.

It’s clever, no doubt, but logic based nonetheless. The issue is that human logic is often influenced heavily or over-ruled by emotion. Emotion that we display in our behaviours and that is learned by others over time.

Essentially, your device has an EQ problem.

We need to think like the world’s first anti-tech tech company. Rather than you being forced to cater to technology, technology should cater to you.

A system where you are the device.

So, we built a software system to recognise emotions from sensors. Then we connect that with artificial intelligence learning systems. Then we enable you to turn any sensory device into a thoughtful companion.

Every superhero has an companion.

Tony Stark + Jarvis = Ironman

Today, we all have a decision to make between Logic or Love. A world where you cater to the machine or where technology is the empathetic butler.

For me, it’s simple. Technology is here to serve humans. In order to serve, it needs to learn and empathise, then help with the logic.

In 7 minutes I share some of the award winning work we did and discuss the future of artificial intelligence based on decisions we make today.

This ultimately poses a question that will determine the future of humanity.

I also want to say a special thanks to Alex Merry and the Tedx Clapham team for all of their help. These presentations certainly take refinement and your time, feedback and dedication goes a long way!
