As designers, we are advocates. We are advocates for the user, the product, and the art. to make things useful, usable, and desirable.

When making decisions with a team, how can you identify when you should back down from what you are advocating? Over the last week, I backing down from several things that were later vehemently argued for by others on the team. The social proof was the validation I needed —

I was right.

But I didn’t feel that way before. I thought I was being subjective, narrow-minded, or just plain wrong.

In the pressures of time, groupthink, and team dynamics, how do we maintain our outlook?

When are we giving in to move on?

When are we giving in because we are lazy?

When are we giving in because we recognize we are wrong?
