12 Easy Steps To Achieve Anything

“Only Those Who Dare To Fail Greatly Can Ever Achieve Greatly,”
-Robert F. Kennedy-
How many times have you told yourself that your life has to change?
How many years have you coddled that thought, only to continue with your life as you knew it and, surprise, nothing has changed?
Why? Because no one will do it for you!
YOU have to do it…
You just don’t know how.
You can truly change your life and achieve anything you want, let me show you how.
Do you want it bad enough?
Many people fear change.
Me?
Not so much. This is not always a good thing.
You have to have a strong desire to gain enough momentum to chase your dreams.
For many people, desire is not enough of a motivator. It is frustrating for me to see this, often in my own family. People really want change, really want to get from place A to place B, and yet can’t get on the bus!
If you really want change to happen, you have to reach a certain point, anything before that, “Change” is just an idea, a vague daydream, not something that deserves commitment.
So what really makes you want to implement change?
Well, you are going to make changes to your life if staying at your current “Place In Time” is more frightening, more painful to you then pursuing a “New Place.”
You simply need to want it bad enough!
1) Set Your Goals
Without knowing your destination, you can’t make a plan on how to get there. You need to identify your goal first. Use laser-like focus to turn a broad desire into a precisely defined, achievable goal with a clear outcome. Be honest to yourself why you want this outcome. To keep your goal, you need a strong motivator, and a well-defined purpose is just that. You need to maintain an unobstructed view of what you want and why you want it.
The “SMART” goal-setting strategy is widely accepted to be the method with the best chances to lead to the desired outcome. SMART stands for:
S — Specific
M — Measurable
A — Achievable
R — Realistic
T — Time Frame
So after you have set your goal, use laser-like focus to achieve it, by applying the following:
2) Specific
Be as detailed as you can, the more, the better. For example, if your goal is to start running for the general purpose of improving your health, that is alright, but you could do better. You could put a much more clearly defined purpose behind it by saying you would like to be able to run a 10K marathon in 12 months from now. Do you see how this purpose gives you a much more defined reason to train?
3) Measurable
To keep your eyes on your desired outcome, you have to be able to measure your progress. A goal “losing weight” would be too unspecific and not measurable. Much better would be to set a precise target weight.
4) Achievable
Be honest with yourself, can you realistically attain your set goal? Chasing unattainable goals is just a waste of time and energy.
5) Realistic
Think big, you really should! But make sure there is a real chance you can reach your desired outcome. Be pragmatic about what is involved in going after your goal. If your goal requires a specific monetary and time commitment, make sure you can fulfill both.
6) Time Frame
Give yourself enough time to accomplish your goal, so you don’t run out of air, but don’t be sluggish about it either. A practical sense of urgency will help you to stay on track and work steadily towards your goal.
Long-term goals (12 months plus), divided into several short term goals that will give you a sense of accomplishment and will help you to reach your desired outcome.
7) Apply laser-like focus
You will be hard-pressed to find something more determined than a squirrel trying to get at the seeds in the birdfeeder. You can make it difficult; the squirrel will not give up. You can chase it away, the squirrel will come back, that is what laser-like focus looks like. Focus on one task, “how to get to the seeds,” no matter how frustrating or challenging the undertaking might be and don’t allow anything to distract you.
8) Use a Digital Mentor
You have a goal and need to know how to reach it? No matter what it is you’re trying to accomplish, getting out of debt, starting any type of online business, a blog, or becoming a freelance writer, someone has already done it and most likely published something about it too. Make this person your digital mentor. Read his/her writings, watch his/her videos on how your mentor did it, reconstruct the process, and use it to build the road to your goal.
Many top professionals have used this approach to become super successful, so you see it works. You don’t have to re-invent the wheel, just get your hands on the drawings.
9) Put Your Mind To It
You just know it is going to happen. This is stronger than merely believing in yourself. If your goal is to build a successful online business so that in 3 years you can live in France, then “live” this conviction with certainty. Don’t say “if we live in France,” NO, it is “when we live in France.” Talk about it, visualize it, see the street, the beach, and hear the language. Surround yourself with pictures of the town or region where you would like to live. It is about sending powerful signals into your subconscious mind by visualizing you have achieved your goal and gotten what you wanted. Don’t confuse your mind with negative, doubtful, or uncertain thoughts, like “it might happen.” This way there is no misperception, your mind knows what you want, and no other outcome is acceptable. All your mental energy is used to create the desired result.
10) Get Your Hands Dirty
No matter how much information your digital mentor has provided to you, and how determined you are to use it, it will all go to waste if you’re not using it to the full extent of your abilities. I’m sure you have heard about the 10,000-hour rule by Marcolm Gladwell. His underlying message is that practicing till you reach your goal is the only way to success. Nothing replaces hard work, there are no shortcuts.
11) Embrace What People Call “Failure”
Everyone is afraid to fail, BUT, there is not such a thing as failure, it is merely part of figuring out what’s working and what’s not.
I have tried a lot of things that worked and stuff that did not. Yes, I failed accordingly, but NOW I am talking from a position of success, and I CAN tell you what works and what doesn’t because I have “failed.” Today I know when people try to “BS” me with their Facebook ads. Telling me that a $5/day marketing budget is all I need, or all I have to do is text my Instagram followers and ask them to review my Shopify store, and I will make big bucks. Failure is nothing more than an accumulation of experiences, that’s it. Like Ken Robinson said, “If you’re not prepared to be wrong, you’ll never come up with anything original.” Being wrong, having failed is simply part of a healthy process of developing something great, so embrace it; the only failure that exists is “NOT To Try” and “Not Getting Back Up Again” (giving up) when you’re on the ground!
11) You Need To Enjoy The Ride
You won’t succeed at anything if you don’t enjoy doing it, period!
Do you really think you can be a pro golf player if you, like me, don’t like Golf?
As a guy who has had motorcycles and really enjoyed riding for 30 years, I can tell you I have met so many people who had no business being on a bike. They were afraid of their own bike and only got into the saddle of a Harley because they thought it was “COOL.” Consequently, they are terrible riders, and for their own and everyone else’s safety, they should have never touched a motorcycle.
If you chase your dreams, are getting out of debt, starting an online business, moving to a foreign country, or whatever it is, it can be tough at the beginning. To endure, you have to love what you do. Chasing your goals while overcoming all kinds of obstacles will be your daily routine, so you better enjoy, and even celebrate the small achievements while keeping your eyes on the trophy. Doing this will prevent you from losing momentum.
12) Don’t give up
The bigger your vision, the longer it will take, and the more considerable effort you will need to achieve it. It will be tough, not always fun, sleepless nights, and lots of sacrifices. But, no matter how tough it is going to be, whatever you do, don’t give up! Remember, section 11, where we talked about failure. The number one failure in life is not to try, but right after that comes “Just Giving Up!” Any time you chase something new there is a painful learning process that eats your motivation away. The likelihood of giving up is the greatest when the pain of the learning curve is the biggest. In fact, most people quit right before their big breakthrough would occur. Don’t give in to the pain of slow results; if you have created a clear vision, follow a Digital Monitor, and implement your experiences, there is no reason for you to give up.
Following the strategy, as outlined above, will truly allow you to achieve anything you want.
Now it is up to you to make your dreams reality.
What is it that is on your mind for years, and yet you never found a way to make it happen?
