I just saw an article in Scientific American with the title, “Birds Are Not Dinosaurs.

Riiiiiiiight… And humans are not animals. All the other creatures are “animals”… But we humans, we are special. There are animals, vegetables, minerals, and humans.

Well, actually, we are special… There is no other creature that has ever existed on our extraordinary unique life sustaining planet that has exhibited such gratuitous and unnecessary harm to other creatures.

Sure, some animals capture and kill other animals, but they generally do that strictly for basic survival. I suppose someone is gonna say, I’ve seen my cat capture a mouse and the keep it alive just so it could torture it. Yeah, well I bet that behavior is pretty rare with wild animals. Wild animals don’t have a human caretaker that regularly puts down food and water for them. Wild animals don’t think of other creatures as playthings. Other creatures are potentially food that needs to be kept alive and fresh so it can procreate, providing more food for the future.

Sorry… I hate to break the news to you, but we humans are animals, and some day we will all become food for other animals… even if it is just for bacteria that break down our last remains.
