Quarantine is a tough nut to crack, in the sense that sometimes it can be hard to fill the time that it can entail. For me, the time fillers have definitely been on the TV, and I just want to take a moment and appreciate some of the shows that me and my families have really enjoyed. One of the first shows that I really binged on over the summer was the American Office- and I have to say, it lived up to the hype. It was witty, funny, and some of the best episodes can be rewatched an almost limitless amount of times (Dinner Party, Koi Pond…). But even with all of this in its favor, I am a staunch believer in the superiority of the British Office- maybe an unpopular opinion, but one I stand firmly behind. After I had finished those series, much to my dismay, I began looking for something else to fill my days with. So I decided to download Peacock, mostly because it was just free, and decided to try out Downton Abbey. To my surprise, it turned out great. Unfortunately, there turned out to be 6 seasons, each with about 8 episodes of about 45 minutes each. Needless to say, this was terrible for my mental health, as I found myself watching up to 2 hours of content a day (even though much of it was over car rides), and soon had to really put in an effort to read instead of binge. Then I took a couple months off of watching any shows, but then my family drew me in again with the Amazing Race. To me, this epitomizes all that I love about race/challenge shows; drama and stupidity while incorporating high stakes and unique environments. The amazing race implements all of this in a clear and very watchable format that is easy to turn on when you are exercising or working. All of these have helped me make it intact through this long summer, and I highly recommend you check all of them out.
