The People of PA Swarthmore Part 2

Michelle J, 51: “I’m afraid of a lot of things, I don’t think there is just one thing that I am afraid of. For the most part though, I am fearful of Donald Trump becoming president because he’s too reactive. He seems to be against every minority there is. I don’t want the rich to get richer and the poor to get poorer. Donald Trump is a nut. he shoots from the hip and can’t communicate. As president you need to be able to communicate. Donald Trump just can’t do that” — Will Fishell

“I guess war would probably be the thing I’m most afraid of. I feel like money and War go together. With a lot of money there’s a lot of war, so I think Trump would get us into a lot of wars because he has a lot of money. Hillary knows more what she is doing because she has been in politics as far as I can remember. I think I would go with Hillary she would keep us out of wars” Jack V. 67 — Will Fishell

“When it comes to the future of America I’m not afraid of anything. To choose between Clinton and Trump, I’ve got to go with Clinton. Trump doesn’t know anything about politics, just money. I am afraid of a trump presidency. He just isn’t fit for the role.” Rodd Sanders, 38— Will Fishell

“To me, they’re both extreme. They’re extreme ends. You’ve got extreme ends on Trump’s side and Hillary is extremely unbelievable, so both are pretty unlikable candidates, in my opinion.” — Jeff, 50

“I think people are frustrated. That’s what creates the animosity there. They can’t get behind any candidate with any conviction, so they’re just frustrated. And it just gets ugly and nasty.” — Dorene, 50

“We can be proud of our heritage, but if we don’t all just call ourselves Americans, and identify that we’re here under one country, trying to accomplish one life, then we’re never gonna get better.” — John S.,

Diane Mattis 81 “I’m supporting Hillary. She has years of experience in politics and I believe she is the most qualified. I am a concerned that she was maybe a little lax about the emails but that is a very minor thing. Trump scares me. He is not in his right mind. He represents all values opposite to American values. Everything he says is alien to what we stand for. He’s a bully, a sexist and a cheater. He takes pride in negative things. He’s a sociopath. Hillary is not perfect but she’s smart and has the experience needed to run the country.” — Max Templer

Stan T. 64 “I’m voting for Hillary. That’s a no-brainer. I always vote democratic. I don’t have anything against conservative values, but republicans and conservatives are too reactionary. They are too extreme in their values. If you’re a part of the Republican Party, you are tainted in my mind. The issue with Hillary is she’s not very transparent and too adept at playing the political game, but Trump is a poor excuse for a human being. I do not think he serves the public, only himself. That doesn’t even touch the surface of the kind of person he is. He is racist. He’s misogynistic. He is xenophobic.” — Max Templer

Dawn B. 50 “I’m on the fence, but as of right now I think I’m going to vote for Trump on Tuesday. I’m a lifelong Democrat, but I’ve never been one of those people who vote democratic every year; I voted for Reagan. I try to ignore personal attributes and focus on policy. Trump has a lot of business experience, and in my opinion he has been pretty successful. His problem is he’s obnoxious. He’s… overly honest. Shit just blurts out, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. People are concerned that Trump will nuke someone the first day he is in office, but that’s the reason the are checks. He can’t just wake up his first day in office, eat his Wheaties then nuke China because he doesn’t like them. Trump is obnoxious, but Clinton is chronically dishonest. I don’t even think Hillary’s emails were a big deal and I’m tired of hearing about them, but the issue is she didn’t own up. She should’ve owned up to it, and having someone brutally honest is better than someone who can’t own up to her actions.” — Max Templer

“I support Hillary because Trump is a garbage fire. I’m not a fan of the Clinton foreign policy. Hillary is the lesser of two evils.”-Gabriela H. 21 — Sam Skinner
