Mambo Afya is a holistic food community that promotes happiness through healthy eating. The greatest single factor in promoting and maintaining health is proper nutrition. Without it, disease is sure to manifest. Currently, we are faced with cases of lifestyle diseases like High/Low Blood Pressure, Diabetes, Cancer, Obesity, Anorexia and so much more alarming disorders caused by lifestyle choices.
This page is dedicated to help you eat better, regardless of your current diet. Mambo Afya will help you get healthier one small step at a time. This is a place for all types of eaters to come and feel safe, encouraged and supported. Plant- based eating is not an all or nothing commitment. By abstaining from animal products, even for some time, is an act of kindness to your digestive system, to the animals and by extension, the environment.
Our recipes can best be described in one word: basic. In this space, we take your favorite recipes and simplify them to basic whole food plant based relishes that are full of flavor. We hear you on being busy and needing recipes to be easy, approachable, practical and satisfying. That’s why most of the recipes we share include just 10 ingredients or less, minimal kitchen equipment, and a few minutes of active prep work.
To educate and inspire you on the evolution of wholesome eating, we will feature satisfactory researched articles, interviews and visual arts such as photography, videos and design about food.
Mambo Afya will take the mind-numbing out of healthy and the boring out of vegetables. Because there’s too much of both in the world.
WHO IS BEHIND MAMBO AFYA?
K. M. Kouyaté is a community development journalist with a commitment to decipher Africa’s challenges in food security. She has been an herbivore for four years and she’s still learning her way into the whole food plant based world and loving it!
What gets her excited is helping people prevent illness and disease with the food they eat so they don’t have to treat maladies caused by their lifestyle choices. She is a true believer that you are what you eat.
Kouyaté is passionate about feeding people’s souls through food. For the past four years, she has shared energizing, plant-based meals that her family and friends enjoy on a daily basis.
Today, the cat is out of the bag and it is her goal as a recipe developer to inspire you to embrace more plant-based foods in your diet without feeling the least bit deprived. She will also highlight food as an expression of art- the genuine fiber of life, love and happiness.
Random facts: Kouyaté is a naturalist. She makes her own tooth paste, cooks her own deodorant and loves gardening.
