ZEALOT #12: The Yume Nikki Retrospect

With the announcement of Yume Nikki Dream Diary, the 3D remake of the original Japanese RPGMaker game, we decided to ask resident Yume Nikki fanboy and returning ZEALOT guest star Meekstape to take us on a tour of Madotsuki’s dreams, and some of his favorite fangames.
In part one, Meeks takes Robby on a tour of the original Yume Nikki, discussing the influences and influence of the over decade old title, visiting some of the classic levels and moments, and talking dream logic.
In part 2, Meeks shows off two inspired fangames. Yume 2kki is the more obvious direct successor, a perpetually-in-update tribute to the original game from 2chan, and it’s full of fun friends, bright colors, and the Marijuana Goddess. The second game, Fleshchild, takes inspiration from Yume Nikki fangames and goes off in an entirely new, much more Cronenberg direction.
