GRID LAYOUT IN DESIGN

Greetings from Vietnam! I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy out there.

My name is Thao and I’m a product designer on Manabie’s Product Team. Today, I want to share with you the basics of grid layouts and the value of using them in your product design. Let’s dive in!

I. What is a grid?

II. Why should we use grid layouts?

Simply put: grids significantly improve design! Here are three ways how.

  1. Grids organize content

For example, the search box and listed items below are well-aligned using column grids, ensuring the interface is clean and neat.

2. Grids allow flexibility

Designing our website using grids enables us to offer our customers desktop or mobile interface without any issues. This saves a lot of time!

3. Grids enhance graphics

Applying grids such as the baseline type below can make graphics pop, which draws in and engages audiences.

In our next post, we will explore grid design in more detail.
