Do We Really Need Bosses?

Some Mr. and Mrs. Bigs may face elimination in the new normal.

There’s something I’ll never understand.

How can many bosses thrive- often earning large bonuses, promotions and ill deserved kudos-when they don’t add value, create nothing but chaos and simply stand in the way of talented employees hungry to make a difference? Then as a purported hero they leave a path of destruction with broken people and systems for another job paying even more. Only to repeat the process again and again.

Hold on to your milk and cookies.

I’m not suggesting that all bosses are bad for business. Only that we need to find a better way to safeguard employee aspirations.

Expression without repercussion can be difficult to find in the workplace. Even harder to find is a boss without low self-esteem, biases and an empty toolbox- none of which further the organization or those around them. Plus zeroing in on a person who doesn’t relish being called the boss or needs to play the part can be like looking for buried treasure on the ocean bottom.

The “boss” that employees need is one that discovers the gifts of others and works to bring them to the forefront. Only then can
