On Becoming a Better Leader: My 90 Days Plan
Congratulations on becoming a new leader in a new organization! It’s an exciting opportunity, but it can also be overwhelming.
That’s why I’m sharing my 90-day plan that has helped me in every new organization.
My approach is simple: listen.
The people in the organization are the key to its success. They know the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.
That’s why my first step is to ask critical questions and listen to their answers. I want to understand their perspectives, ideas, and concerns.
After gathering feedback, I validate my understanding and get more insights. I share my findings with the team and play it back to them. It’s an outside-in approach that puts their needs and priorities first.
By the 30th day, I have a good sense of the organization’s culture, strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. I have built relationships, established trust, and shown that I’m committed to making a positive difference.
Now, it’s time to act.
In the next 30 days, I’d create a plan that reflects the feedback and insights I gathered. I prioritize actions based on their impact, feasibility, and alignment with our vision and values. I communicate my plan to the team and seek their…
