Hired new talent?
Make sure they don’t run away after Day 1

Rather have the TL:DR;? Just scroll down to the Cheat Sheet.

Do you remember a moment in time where you just landed a new job, you were really excited to get started, hoping your new employer was equally excited to have you on board?

I have for sure, it really creates momentum for a great start.

So you come in all excited, ready to:

  • Pick up your computer, badge and what not 👨‍💻
  • Meet the team you’ll be working with 🙋
  • Have a chat with your new manager 🧑‍💼
  • Test the coffee ☕️

And then you catch yourself sitting down thinking:
🤷‍♂️ 𝘕𝘰𝘸 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵?

Felt a bit like you were lost right?
Perhaps brought some 1st doubts about the job.
“Did I come to the right place?”, “Was this the move for me?”

The Onboarding

Most likely the reason for this feeling: lack of proper onboarding.

It doesn’t have to be. You can imagine that when you’re the one hiring you want people to keep that original momentum. Not to lose it all after they sit down with that office coffee (which to be honest, most likely doesn’t help).
