These Five Motivational Speeches Will Get You off Your Ass
We all know we aren’t reaching our full potential. Our lives are full of empty promises, “maybe’s”, and failed ideas. Failed ideas that we never went through with because we were too comfortable. If you’re reading this article there’s probably something you’ve always wanted to do. Maybe it’s running a marathon. Perhaps you’re too scared to ask that girl out. For me, I think of the businesses I was too afraid to start.
The hardest steps to take are the first. Once you actually start working towards your goal, you’re going to find that it’s easier to stick with it. Some of us just need that initial push. That nudge in the right direction.
Getting motivated and staying motivated can be difficult, but these five speeches always keep me hungry for more. You’ll find some roadblocks on your way to the top, but you can always return to these videos for motivation. If you’re struggling to get off your ass right now and accomplish what you’ve always dreamed of, I would strongly suggest that you take a look at these videos.
#1: Secrets to Success — Eric Thomas:
The audio from this speech seems to be featured on every single motivational video in the world. The speech was given to students, but in all honesty Eric Thomas could motivate a toddler to dunk a basketball. Focus on his story, it’s what makes him great.
#2: The Sylvester Stallone Story — Anthony Robbins:
Many people don’t know it, but the story of Sylvester Stallone (better known as Rocky and Rambo from movies in the 70’s/80’s) is ridiculously motivating. Anthony Robbins tells a story of a ravaged man who was so financially destroyed that he sold his own pet. Listening to this audio gives me goosebumps every time.
#3: The Most Important Word Ever — Gary Vaynerchuk:
We hear stories of the Four Hour Work Week and aspire to someday be like that, but Gary Vaynerchuk shows what the cold reality of being an entrepreneur is. Gary’s channel is full of great content and if you have spare time I would highly suggest looking into his other videos as well. You might think you’re working hard now, but you’re not working as hard as Gary.
#4: Motivational Speech from Pursuit of Happyness — Will Smith:
This speech is a bit cliche, but the message is clear and important. Don’t give up on your dreams. Anyone in this world has the ability to do whatever they want if they put the time in. You just have to take action. Start your business. Run a marathon. Write a book. The more you put it off, the less time you have to make your dream a reality.
#5: Motivational Speech at Commencement — Denzel Washington:
Denzel Washington, like Will Smith and Sylvester Stallone is known more for being an actor and not a motivational speaker. As he gives the speech pay attention to the audience. You can tell that they’re moved by his speaking. If you only watch one video on this list, I’d suggest that it be this one.
REMEMBER: these speeches aren’t magically going to make you successful. After watching them you should feel empowered! You should be motivated, ready to pounce like a tiger. Nobody is going to do the work for you. YOU have to get off the couch and go run if you want to win a marathon. YOU have to start a business. Today is the day. Not tomorrow, not a month from now. If you take action now, in ten years you could be up on a stage delivering a speech about your story. You just have to put in the work.
