April 2021 In Pictures
April has brought many achievements and changes to Manatee County. We’ve worked to create change and recognize great public service at County Commission meetings and given back to the community by volunteering at events like the Tampa Bay Mega Pantry. We can’t wait to see what May brings!
Board of County Commission Meeting - April 6, 2021
There were a lot of awards and proclamations at our April 6 commission meeting. County Commissioners celebrated Chase Snyder, Manatee County’s Employee of the Month for April. Chase works in the Public Works department as a Fleet Technician and always gives 100% to whatever he is tasked with. He displays an exceptional eagerness for learning and has a strong desire to grow his skills and experience.
County Commissioners also bid a happy retirement to Susan Ford, Human Services Program Manager. The commission also recognized Fair Housing Month and Public Health Week.
Manatee County Social Media Easter Egg Hunt
Since COVID-19 has changed the way our holidays are celebrated this year, we had to get a little creative! That’s why we held a social media easter egg hunt. Each day for a week we hid Easter eggs around the county and posted clues on our Instagram and Facebook. Each finder of the eggs received a special Manatee County prize bag!
Board of County Commission Meeting - April 20, 2021
During our April 20, 2021 commission meeting, county commissioners recognized Crime Victims’ Rights Week. They also presented Richard Steinfirst with a certificate of recognition for his service as a lifeguard. Richard worked as a seasonal lifeguard at the G.T. Bray Aquatics Center for 18 years. At the age of 87, Richard was the oldest lifeguard in the state of Florida.
Feeding Tampa Bay Mega Pantry
This month Manatee County Commissioners helped out with the Feeding Tampa Bay Mega Pantry Event at the Desoto Square Mall. The menu for the day included 500 boxes of shelf stable dry goods, 700 boxes of fresh produce, 420 boxes of refrigerated food, 1150 cans of vegetable soup and 400 bags of rice.
Lifeguard Derick Brown won the 2020 Lifeguard of the Year award! We are so thankful for him and all of our lifeguards that work diligently to keep us safe at our beaches and pools.
