I look out the window, watching two worlds collide. We steadily pass the skyscrapers of my city, slowly leaving them behind.

Picking up pace, we exit the concrete jungle to enter a change of scenery. By the end of the day, we crave a calmer sanctuary. Right before my eyes, the booming skyline turns into a dark silhouette, encompassed by a blazing, rusty orange sky.

I float farther and farther away until the silhouettes fade and disappear.

But those faces — the busy, tired faces — they continue to accompany me in my journey. Some look down at the little screens in their hands. Others let their heads rock and bobble to the unfaltering motion… gradually drifting into a gentle sleep.

Trees weave in and out of their hair and civilization flashes right into my glare. The apparitions of this inside world, overlaid on a brisk, cold night. We’re neither here nor there, separated by a single glass.

I look out the window, longing for my city… I say goodbye to my home again.

I say goodbye to my home again.
