The 🔑 is to stay grounded

At one point or another, we all get caught in the hamster wheel of stress, confusion, exhaustion… And, as perfectly functioning humans, we feel like we won’t possibly get out of this vicious cycle.

We think that there's no way out, that this particular situation at this precise moment in time is going to drain us to the very last bit of energy, it is going to eat our soul for dinner … well, we usually tend to overcomplicate things.

The alternative it to become aware of that stressful situation, that we're exhausted and do everything we can to stop it.

The key is to stay grounded, stay true to ourselves.

Whenever I feel inexplicably stressed, with low energy or low motivation, I sound the alarm. Not to freakout, but to force myself to stop.

In moments like these I like to remind myself that the kid that grew up climbing trees, running around, and learned how to swim in the ocean — yes, that’s me — is still there.

Reaching inwards, and contemplating the things that make you a unique specimen in this world can give you the calm and connectedness you're looking for.

The simple act of stopping and observing how you feel, can bring you calm and ease. Of course, this is not a magical solution, meant to take care of everything for you and offload all your problems to some magical entity that will deal with it later. But it can certainly make you "realign with yourself", look at the world and what's around you from a different, more positive and understanding perspective, changing — for the better — the way you face your biggest challenges, or stressful situations.

You can try reminding myself of this “shifting mechanism”, whenever you feel uneasy. Full disclosure: this is way easier said than done but, at least, you’ve got to try. Like every other technique it needs practice until mastery.

Even though I'm far from mastering it, this technique has helped me reevaluate stressful situations, since it makes me stay true to myself, reorganize my thoughts and strategise what to do next.

We're this beautifully complex system of atoms and molecules that functions just like clockwork. But sometimes there's a slight glitch, so it's OK to stop, re-align and start ticking again.
