Felicia Tan’s Journey from Loss to Life with the MAP Method™ as Her Next Chapter
An interview with a Certified MAP Well-Being Facilitator
Felicia Tan (Singapore) doesn’t just wear multiple hats. She weaves them — author, creative entrepreneur, life coach, MAP Well-Being Facilitator, and founder of three distinct ventures, each a mirror of her personal evolution.
Two decades ago, she launched Design Workz, helping other companies grow their branding through online and offline media. Newly married during that time, she and her husband were trying to grow a new family. Sadly, tragedy struck twice.
When Loss Redesigns You
Between 2011 and 2012, Felicia experienced the heartbreaking loss of three baby boys. Each was born alive but far too early to survive.
“Back then, I didn’t even know what bereavement support meant,” she shared. “I coped in silence.” It wasn’t until after her second loss that she discovered Child Bereavement Support Singapore (CBSS), a community that became a turning point in her healing. “CBSS helped me a lot,” she said. “I finally found others who understood what I was going through.”
That experience of being supported inspired her to give back. Through her first two memoirs, ‘To Baby With Love’ and ‘Lost And Found’, Felicia began processing her grief publicly. “Writing was healing,” she said. “But I knew I wanted to do more than survive. I wanted to help others thrive too.”
Felicia never gave up on her dream to become a mother. She worked on all aspects of her health and this time, in 2015, she successfully gave birth to her rainbow baby!
In 2016, Art of Life (AOL) was created to mark her new chapter with the birth of her rainbow baby. Together with co-founder Yannie Yong, their company’s mission is to support speakers, authors, entrepreneurs, and coaches to embrace their lives, envision their dreams, and empower their communities. She also wrote and published her third book, “A Gift From Heaven: A Mother’s Search for Her Rainbow Baby After the Storms”, to celebrate this joyous milestone, and to offer hope to other aspiring parents.
In 2017, she created Angel Hearts (AH) with a dedicated group of volunteers to support bereaved families in rebuilding their lives.
The Magic of Rewiring Our Minds
Years passed. But it wasn’t until a sleepless, stress-ridden week in 2021, triggered by old trauma that she encountered the MAP (aka Make Anything Possible) Method™ — an emotional processing technique rooted in neuroscience.
“I couldn’t sleep. I was in fear, and I didn’t even know why,” Felicia recalled. A friend introduced her to Sofie Hon, a MAP Trainer and Coach. “In just a few sessions, I found peace and something else: a sense of direction.”
MAP works by engaging the superconscious mind to gently dissolve emotional triggers. Unlike traditional talk therapy, clients don’t need to relive trauma or even explain much. “It works with your mind like updating old software,” Felicia explained.
When the MAP Well-Being Facilitator (MWF) program launched in 2024, Felicia didn’t hesitate. She enrolled and became certified, eager to integrate this powerful method into her coaching.
“One experience that really stayed with me was when I used MAP on the Go with a fellow coach. She had been affected when a potential client didn’t confirm the engagement. The client said she wasn’t good enough, and that crushed her confidence. It led to inaction, and she started second-guessing herself with other clients too.”
Felicia guided her through the MAP on the Go process, a quick MAP technique to use anytime, anywhere on the go.
“I remember clearly. She was recounting what happened, and she was completely flat — no energy, no motivation. She felt weak, like she just couldn’t bring herself to take action. But by the end of the session, I saw her smile. Her whole face lifted. And that’s when I knew MAP isn’t just a tool. It’s a game changer.”
Her client saw a new possibility. “She realized maybe it wasn’t about her. Maybe the client pulling out had nothing to do with her worth. And just like that, she was ready to move forward.”
Designing from the Inside Out
Today, Felicia helps professionals, especially coaches and speakers, align their inner world with their public presence.
“A branding strategy can’t hide emotional blocks. That’s why my work blends MAP, private coaching, and storytelling.”
She is also preparing to launch group MAP on the Go (MOG) workshops. These sessions allow participants to process emotional stressors in real time using guided, neuroscience-based tools. Whether it’s grief, fear of judgment, or burnout, Felicia’s approach is rooted in compassion, clarity, and creativity.
Finding Your Rainbow
Felicia’s life is a powerful testament to what it means to intentionally design a fulfilling life, even after profound grief. In just a few years, she went from the devastating loss of three babies to welcoming a healthy son, publishing three books, and launching two more companies.
True to her identity as a Life Designer, she now helps others do the same.
“The journey of finding your rainbow after braving the storms — that’s what makes life meaningful.”
When asked what she would say to anyone who feels drawn to become a certified MAP Well-Being Facilitator but is holding back, Felicia offered this:
“If you feel called to do this work, you’re already qualified. Doubt is just fear of the unknown. MAP doesn’t require perfection, just presence.”
