Last week, the Web Summit took place in Lisbon at Altice Arena on November 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th. This event, which will be repeated over the next 10 years, was attended by more than 70,000 people from 100 different countries.

For Mapify it was the first time to attend Web Summit, integrated into the Alpha program for companies in the pre-investment stage.

Mapify is a location intelligence platform that enables you to build a prototype of applications with our own data.

I felt it was an amazing networking event, similar to a Network map, with many tags that represented people.

1st day of WebSummit — Portuguese startups on the stage

We were without high expectations for being the first time, looking for people interested in the product: investors, attendees, startups or other companies, to have a knowledge of what exists, what the market needs and thus have a validation of the product.

Fundamentally, the main motivation for attending the Web Summit was to soft launch the Mapify.

Networking

It has become an incredible and unique experience, based on networking! The intentions of networking are making contacts and building relationships! So, a hint for a Startup: talk a lot and get interested in other competing companies!

Mapify was present in two days: on November 7th with an Alpha booth and on the 8th in the afternoon at the Made of Lisbon booth, sponsored by the Lisbon City Council.

Web summit was the launch driver for the Mapify product. It was almost a year of development and at least 3 months of content preparation.

Communities presence

Mapify is on Twitter and LinkedIn and for future on GitHub with technical content. Beyond that, there is a Help Center to help you learn more about the platform, with lists of functionalities, and the website for those interested in scheduling demos or talking with us.
