CPIC Investment Management (Hong Kong) Limited (CPIC IMHK), a wholly owned Hong Kong asset management platform of China Pacific Insurance (Group) Co. Ltd. (CPIC), has become the investment advisor to the technology company MAPO Labs, the developer of MAP Protocol. CPIC IMHK will provide professional investment advice in traditional finance to MAPO Labs, while MAPO will leverage its technology strength in the RWA area to further its growth in the WEB3 ecosystem.

CPIC IMHK holds licenses in Hong Kong for Type 1 (securities trading), Type 4 (advising on securities), and Type 9 (asset management) from the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission. In September 2023, they received approval to upgrade their Type 1 and Type 4 licenses to include virtual assets. With a global perspective, CPIC IMHK leverages its expertise in large-scale asset allocation in insurance, focusing on three pillars: fixed income, equity, and alternative investments (including virtue assets). They provide clients with asset management and investment advisory services spanning traditional and emerging assets. Moreover, as a traditional financial institution deeply committed to the virtual asset ecosystem, they have also carried out a series of explorations in the field of Real-World Assets (“RWAs”), liaising with major ecosystems, exchanges, wallet providers, etc. to onramp various real-world assets onto chains and expand use cases, striving to tackle long-standing pain points including asset quality, asset security, and liquidity.

Founded in 2019, MAP Protocol is a Bitcoin Layer-2 solution for peer-to-peer cross-chain interoperability. Utilizing the security mechanisms of Bitcoin, MAP Protocol enables assets and users from other public blockchains to interact seamlessly with the Bitcoin network. This not only enhances network security but also achieves BRC20 cross-chain capabilities. Additionally, RWAs are a key focus in MAP’s ecosystem strategy, connecting trillions of dollars in financial assets. This collaboration with traditional financial institutions is expected to accelerate the deployment of the RWA ecosystem.
