Saturday, 2 April 2016, at the Theatre of Monticello d’Alba, the Theatre Workshop of the “G. Govone” High School of Alba, in Piedmont, Italy, has staged the comedy” Three on the swing” (“Tre sull’altalena”), directed by Luca Franchelli and written by Luigi Lunari in 1989.
Characterized by masterful and charismatic interpretation of four young promising actresses, funny scenes proposals have emerged as a compelling and unexpected reflection on the true meaning of human existence and the many unknowns that we are all called upon to resolve, in one way or another, in the course of our lives.
The surreal atmosphere that was required by the play was entrusted entirely to the performance of the girls, aided only slightly by an almost conceptual stage design and visual and sound effects almost minimalist.
Detail of great importance, that did not fail to impress the audience, fascinated by the many philosophical, religious and literary quotes who surrounded their performance: from Schopenhauer to Shakespeare, passing through the Bible, for the terse “Thus spake Zarathustra” and even for the song “Until the boat goes” (“Fin che la barca va”) of 1970, sung by Orietta Berti.

A career woman (Vittoria Albesiano), a commissioner of Public Administration (Marta Giamesio) and a literature teacher (Francesca Mazza) reach together the inside of a building just a few minutes from the start of a smog drill.
The three women have reached that place for three different reasons and are convinced that that place is at three separate addresses.
The exercise will force them to remain in the same room all night and, for inexplicable reasons, each of the ports that have crossed before their arrival can only be opened by one who has crossed it first.
In the course of time, new mysteries will be brought to light, such as the presence of different beverages in a refrigerator according to the person who opens it or the alternation of different external meteorological phenomena at the same time.
Not even the arrival of a cleaning woman characterized by an enigmatic and cryptic attitude (Matilde Heaven) seem to give a definitive answer to the question about the true nature of that almost dreamlike place, intended to force the three women in the most dramatic of reflections, the reflection about the death.

In his time, Luigi Lunari was praised for “Three on the swing” by the great Dario Fo, who had described this show as
“A fantastically made machine.”
, and as
“One of the theatrical inventions for which it is worth going out at night in Milan, carging the ritual of dressing, booking your ticket, taking a taxi, and sitting in a room crammed with people.”
The writer can not but agree with this statement and, however, He relaunches it in favor of the staging of the “Govone”, pointing out the way in which the young age of the four protagonists: Vittoria Albesiano, Marta Giamesio, Francesca Mazza and Matilde Cielo, has played here a major role in the success of their exhibition, made even more emotional and unforgettable by the fast and strong pace of their jokes effect.
“Three on the swing” is the first show of the “Govone” to be played by all girls and is set up as the worthy and interesting continuation of that same workshop that, in recent years, he staged “12 Angry Men” ( in 2011), written by Reginald Rose, “Eight women and a mystery” and “Trap for one man” (in 2012), by Robert Thomas, “Scenes of marriage” (in 2013), a show based on the plays by Anton Chekhov, Eugene Ionesco and Michael Frayn, “Ten little
black” (in 2014) by Agatha Christie and “Right you are (if you think)” (2015) by Luigi Pirandello.
All theatrical events that have been characterized in the past by the excellent performance of their excellent actors on stage.
Sunday, May 22, at 21.00, the Social Theatre “G. Busca “Alba will host the replica of “Three on the swing “, giving the general public a second opportunity to witness this unmissable example of metaphysical applied to the theater, but also of art applied to life.
A must for those who, like myself, loves theater and considers it the highest form of expression of the human soul, but also for those that, of the theater, in Italy, want to glimpse the future, if only through the masterful interpretation of these four magnificent actresses.
