Context: Being a member of the team in charge of building La Poste’s largest data warehouse was part of my role as a Project manager and Full stack software engineer at Inovia, a San Fransisco and Paris based digital agency. For more detailed information, please refer to the agency’s business case.

Mission: We were ask to build a tracking system to follow the lifecycle of letters (over 50M events/day). The solution also needed to compute indicators about the postal service itself (quality of service, deliverability, delay…). A budget of 2.5 million euros was allocated. To fulfil this need, we built a BI solution, based on an open-source software stack, that delivers over 320 KPIs to all business lines, from marketing to sales and operations.

Role and responsibilities: As a backend software engineer, it was my responsibly to build high quality web services delivering realtime information about the letters as well as a large number of KPIs for internal business use.

Years: 2009-2010

Key metric: 3+ billion rows database (as of 2010)

Stack: Zend Framework, Exalead, MySQL Enterprise
