Slush 2018: A Curated List Of Must Attend Side Events By The Startup Community
That’s it. Slush 2018 is one week away. An event that is able to set the before and after it’s creation has obviously done a magnificent job marketing itself and being impactful enough to make that stance — Slush is that one event. The months prior to Slush for people inside the Finnish startup ecosystem are a mixture of hustle, nostalgia, buzz and finally once it’s over — complete sadness. The struggle is real. But it starts again in Autumn, every year.
As part of the startup ecosystem, Maria 01, is a big benchmark for delegations visiting Slush and people inside the Finnish ecosystem. Questions that often we get asked are “ What side events should I attend during Slush” — that’s a tricky one — we can’t just recommend parties right!? Anyhow, our mission this year was clear, we asked the startups, investors and the community what is their own unbiased opinion based on their interests. This is what we got.
For the investors ⬇️
1. Investor Day, 3.12, 14:00–19:00 📍
The event is solely focused on facilitating valuable encounters, putting less emphasis on stage program .The participants will have an opportunity to connect with each other and the local business angels, and learn about the developments of the Nordic ecosystem.
2. Investor Sauna, 3.12, 18:00–23:00 ♨️
Investor Sauna by FiBAN and Nordic Angel Program is an exclusive event only for those with investor ticket to Slush and FiBAN’s or other BAN’s business angels. Welcome to mingle with business angels from the Nordic & Baltic area, and join us for great networking, inspiring discussions, and, obviously, for steaming hot sauna sessions
3. Business Angel Lunch, 3.12, 12:15–13:30 🥗
A great way to get the full benefit out of Slush Investor Day. First come first serve — sign up quick to secure your place. Maximum amount of participants 40. The lunch is at your own cost.
4. Slush Morning Swim, 4.12, 8:30–9:30 🏊🏽
No better way to start Slush than with a polar bear swim in the Helsinki harbor. Join other Slush attendees pool side, in the sauna or over breakfast before heading to the conference center for the main conference. Entrance to the pool is 14 Euros. You can rent swim suits and towels.

1. Founders Street Day 0, 3.12, 17:00–3:00 🚋
Taking over the Kalevankatu street in the center of Helsinki, Founders Street concentrates Slush’s evening program and side events in one location. For two nights, the bars and restaurants of the street will be filled with captivating program including talks on cryptocurrencies, research related pitching, chill afterworks, parties, pub crawls and so much more.
2. Scaling Up Smart & Clean, 4.12, 18:00–22:00 📈
Slush Afterwork @Allas Sea Pool will bring together Slush’s most impact-oriented, smart and clean technology focused and sustainability-minded professionals under one roof and into one sauna!
3. Crypto Evening, 4.12, 18:30–21:30 🤑
Slush Crypto Evening is an intimate gathering of the key players from the field including our top crypto speakers, startups, corporations, and regulators. To participate to the event, you need to request access & fill up an application.
4. Y-Science, 5.12, 9:00–12:00 🔬
Y Science is an event that brings together the curious scientific community and the business world to inspire concrete action and contribution to the society.
