Why I started Online Learning Weekly, the curated learning news you want to read
I recently launched a new project called Online Learning Weekly. The idea behind the Online Learning Weekly stemmed from conversations that I had with several learning and technology experts in San Francisco. We had all experienced the same frustrations when trying to keep up to date with industry news, best practices, and other general cool things that people are working on.
In theory this shouldn’t be too hard, should it?
There are obviously hundreds of websites and blogs that cover the online learning space, however, that doesn’t mean that you are going to be able to quickly and easily find the high-quality content that you are searching for.
As the VP of Marketing at GO1 and a co-organizer of the Bay Area Learning Design and Technology Meetup, I am constantly scouring the internet to learn more about the latest innovations in our industry, not only to improve my knowledge, but to share these articles with our network and help them access this information too.
It didn’t take me long to discover that you really had to search hard to find the high-quality articles you were looking for. Yes, they were there, but they were buried deep amongst layer upon layer of promoted posts, product specific tips and other advertising material.
Give that I was already doing the research to uncover some of these gold nuggets of articles, I decided that it would be great if I could share this with others who enjoy reading and learning from them too.
Prior to joining the GO1 team I had been working in New York for an organization that for had specialized in producing curation tools relating to online video. Now with Online Learning Weekly, I wanted to take that same concept and move the of curation high quality content across to the learning and technology sector.
By subscribing Online Learning Weekly, you receive one weekly email with online the cream of the crop when it comes to articles. The email contains between 5–8 articles every week and only covering the information we deem to be suitable for you to spend the time reading — no filler!
It’s my hope that by providing high quality content to our subscribers, not only learning industry professionals, but anyone who has an interest in creating courses, building out a training program, starting a business, or even just learning more themselves, can get access to information that can help them take the next steps in their journey.
Even though it’s still only early days, we’ve already had a great response to the newsletter and subscriber numbers are growing at a rapid rate! The learning and technology industry is small, so being able to share and help each other to learn more about what we are all doing is a great way to build up the community, and in turn assist each other in building bigger and better businesses.
