Image Versus Ego — What’s The Difference?

Here’s a question that we frequently get: “Hey Coach, what’s the difference between Image and Ego?”

It’s a great question, if you think about it, and a comparison is one way to start looking at the difference, so let’s try this:

  • Those with an image have little ego.
  • Those with a large ego have little image.

AN IMAGE IS THE BUILDING OF A BRAND.

When you have clarity of your Style and intention in life, you can engage in the process of declaring your image (making your offer) and then designing your actions to be consistent with your speaking.

Ego, on the other hand, is self-importance.

When you do not have clarity of your Style and/or your intention, you will more often engage in comparison conversations against others (judgmental speaking) in an effort to prove your self-importance.

As a side note, our best clients through the years have been the ones that were most committed to a specific brand and future before starting coaching — they were already just playing the game, building an image, and they had nothing to prove.

SO THE QUESTION BECOMES, WHICH ARE YOU WORKING ON — YOUR IMAGE OR YOUR EGO?
