Market Mad House

Can we Get Responsible Adults on Capitol Hill?

Americans ask the above question because Congress can no longer perform simple tasks such as electing a Speaker of the House, or raising the debt ceiling. Frighteningly, other politicians cannot even follow basic rules about keeping classified documents secret.

Unfortunately, our political class’s response to such critiques is to attack the other party. Nobody asks why Congress is dysfunctional. Instead, pundits either attack somebody, or yearn for the good old days when “everybody got along and Congress worked.”
