Partners will build North America’s first Small Modular Nuclear Reactor

They have formed a team of companies to construct North America’s first small modular nuclear reactor in Darlington, Ontario.

Ontario Power Generation (OPG), GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy, SNC-Lavalin, and Aecon comprise the team. OPG, the license holder, will operate the reactor. GE Hitachi will provide the BWRX-300 SMR. SNC-Lavalin will design and engineer the reactor and oversee procurement. Aecon will construct the reactor. The Canada Infrastructure Bank is financing the project with $970 million.
