Should America Abolish the Presidency?

Many people admit the last few US presidents are failures. Yet few people consider the possibility that it is the presidency itself, not the person in the Oval Office, is the problem.

It is easy to argue that it is impossible for one person to perform all the duties of the US president. The University of Texas at Austin Professor Jeremi Suri has written a book on the subject he calls The Impossible Presidency. Suri’s argument is that no chief executive can fulfill all the demands we place on a US president.
