Introducing Tamas Torok, Content Marketer & Author of 100 Content Marketing Tips, and Inbound Marketer & Growth Hacker of Momentum, to Bright Ideas.

This week, to continue our online magazine, Bright Ideas, we got to know Tamas Torok.

To begin, Tamas gave us a small description of what 100 Content Marketing Tips is about. 100 Content Marketing Tips is a book for bloggers and content marketers to get thousands of visitors. I’m leaving my current company (Momentum), but most of my experience comes from there.

In this interview, we asked Tamas to share his experience in the Business to Business world to help enlighten fellow business people.

You start your day by: Drinking a big glass of water and breakfast.

You end your day by: Reading.

When a problem arises, how do you approach it? Try to structure the problem first to see more clearly what causes it.

What is an average day at your company? We mostly work remotely, we have daily 5-minute meetings (scrum) and communicate through Slack during the day. We mostly start the day at 9:00 AM and finish at 5:00 PM.

How do you promote your business? Explain your worst and best strategies you’ve implemented?

Best: we create content to attract visitors to our website, and to give our content a promotion boost I built relationship with fellow marketers to amplify our reach and get feedback. Worst: I tried to fully automate my twitter account. Never do that, especially with private messaging.

Which channels were the most effective in reaching your customers?

Content marketing

Organic channels (Google): we started focusing on longtail keywords and creating super-detailed, actionable guides. The most successful way to get organic traffic boost is to search for new areas and create the first detailed guide on that topic.

I created a competitive advantage by being super lean and listening to our customers very closely. We know what they want so we know exactly what we have to do.

What methods or strategies did you use to create value with your clients?

I wanted to make sure that our content is valuable to our target audience, so I tried to get in touch with them and learn more how they live, work and what are their biggest challenges related to our field. Also getting early feedback on a content is really helpful.

What strategies were the most effective in retaining your customers?

We collected emails and used website push notifications. Emails: capturing email addresses with free content. CTAs were embedded to our posts and we used an exit intent popup to capture additional emails.

How did you create a competitive advantage in your industry?

Being super lean and listening to our customers very closely. We know what they want so we know exactly what we have to do.

Difference between Content Marketing and Tranditional Marketing

What are some of your favourite productivity hacks?

Pomodoro, no email before I plan the day, Scrum and doing sports regularly.

Do you have an extremely useful App you cannot live without?

Buffer: I can schedule my updates. Contentmarketer.io: makes it easy to send outreach emails and it knows everything I need.

What major challenges did you face? How did you solve them?

Cutting through the noise. There are way too much content out there, and it’s really hard to capture the attention of your audience. I’m working on a framework that can be used by anyone (It’s going to be my 2nd book:)). What we tried: creating unique and funny visuals and focusing on new topics with less content.

Who are the visionaries you respect? Why?

Elon Musk. The way he thinks about our future is incredible. I can’t really understand how is he able to work that hard in different companies.
